Let’s talk sleep!
My husband and I love sleep! Before we had our daughter we went to bed at 8 and turned the TV off by 9. When I would ask him about his fears about having our baby he always said he was worried about missing out on sleep.
As I mentioned in my last post, I love instructions. I looked to social media for help with getting our little one on a schedule, making sure she had enough sleep, and anything else I needed to know about getting us all to sleep.
What I found was several sleep consultants with amazing information. The only problem was that it seemed that they all differed quite a bit and I didn’t know which one to follow. I continued to explore and really what I realized was, I could totally do this!
I found a certification program and dove right in! I loved learning through the course and it truly helped us get on a schedule together. Now we have a great sleeper! Its in her genes but its also because we put in the work together, all of us! I’m so thankful for the sleep training I was able to do and feel so fulfilled to help others get back to sleep as well.
What is a sleep consultant? Traditionally, a consultant helps "sleep train" baby. Getting them to fall asleep on their own and sleep through the night. This works best around 6 months of age, but really depends on baby and the family. I can help with getting baby on a schedule, sleeping through the night, lengthening naps, dropping a night feed, getting rid of a pacifier, transitioning toddler to a bed, getting older children onto a better sleep routine, and anything else you can think of! We will work together to get the results you want with as little discomfort as possible.
The Institute of Pediatric Sleep and Consulting continues to evolve and offer more. I am currently working on the Special Needs Certification course. Children with special needs often have many factors affecting their ability to get to sleep and stay asleep. Through my work in Early Intervention I’ve seen many different situations and the last thing these children, and families, need is to be shrugged off about their sleep concerns. A well-rested night of sleep is incredibly important for everyone, especially these families! I can’t wait to tackle the challenging nights with these families and see better mornings on the other side.
