I’m still in a little bit of shock that this is happening but I can’t wait to meet you and get started on your goals.
I’m Leya! I live in New Hampshire, work and grew up in Massachusetts, and absolutely love children. Specifically, toddlers and little ones but really all children! I just became a new mom last year and it honestly feels like I have officially found my purpose. I might be a little obsessed with my little girl but I will not apologize for that!
I’ve always wanted to be a mom and have spent basically my whole life being around children. From baby sitting, working in daycares, to my years in Early Intervention (EI). Currently, I work full time in EI in Mass and spend one day a week at home with my girl. I can’t wait to spend time working with families in this new adventure.
Children do not come with instruction manuals and I’ve never been so shocked by this then when I got home from the hospital myself. I’m an instructions girl! Don’t get me wrong I’m not the type that can’t make decisions but I like when someone else can help me make the best choices. As someone who has a lot of knowledge on children and babies I felt pretty prepared for what to expect, but I was expecting more information from the professionals around me.
The specific shock that I keep going back to is when my daughter was getting ready to try solid foods. My pediatrician told us we could do purees and real foods. “Anything in a stick shape,” is what she said. She also provided a packet with several different topics but the topic of food basically just said “feed your child.” I was truly shocked! In my work in EI I’ve learned so much from the Occupational Therapist I work with and felt confident setting my daughter up for success, but how does everyone else get this information?
